Service Description

This 2 day session is designed to give you confidence in the skills you will have acquired throughout your training with an additional opportunity to develop them and demonstrate them for your portfolio by creating photos and videos in a supported environment alongside fellow learners. Tom who will be leading the sessions is and experienced Forest School Practitioner and Bushcraft Instructor with over a decade of experience in delivering to learners from a range of demographics. The base outline of the sessions is as follows and will allow you to learn at your pace and develop the skills you feel you need most. Day 1: - 0900 - Arrive on site, introductions and session outlines - 1000 - Introduction to running Forest School Sessions and homework guides (risk assessment, policies, session planners, handbooks) - 1100 - Fire lighting. What is flint and steel? - 1200 - Camp cooking made to look easy, with Q&A while Tom cooks - 1300 - Nature Walk, trees, plants and other interesting finds - 1400 - Safe use of cutting tools - 1530 - Wrap up and any questions for the day - 1600 - Time to head home and do homework Day 2: - 0900 - Arrive on site, review homework and group discussion - 1000 - Tarps, Knots and natural shelter - 1100 - Lighting your fire ready for cooking - 1200- Preparing your dish for the banquet - 1300 - Portfolio videos and photos ( practice and record your skills for assessment) - 1530 - Wrap up and any final questions - 1600 - Time to go home Unfortunately we don't have accommodation on site but there are number of hotels and other lodging facilities available in and around the local area. It is recommended that you have the following items with you to help you gain the most from this experience as we will only stop or cancel the session in case of extreme high winds. - Waterproof and warm clothing. Layers are better. - Notepad and writing materials ( pens, pencils, colouring crayons etc) - Wellies or walking boots - Camera / camera phone with good battery life (battery pack might be advisable to allow you to record more of your evidence - A tripod for your camera or phone ( we have some but not many and they don't need to be expensive, just enough to allow you to record yourself - Your dish for the banquet ( you will need to survey your fellow participants on day one to make sure your dish is suitable for the group, which is good practice for session planning) All other equipment and materials will be provided

Cancellation Policy

Any experiences booked can be cancelled at any time (in writing) by the attendee, but may result in a partial or full loss of refund. Bookings cancelled by attendees (in writing) are subject to the following time scales 35 days or more notice of cancellation - Full refund 28 days or more notice of cancellation - 75% refund 21 days or more notice of cancellation - 50% refund 14 days or more notice of cancellation - 25% refund Less than 14 days notice of cancellation - No refund If the experience has to be cancelled by The Woodland School Ltd, attendees will either receive a full refund or credit of equal value towards another experience.
